Module 4: Humanitarian Emergencies and Mass Gatherings, Rabat, Morocco

This one-week training module on “Humanitarian emergencies and Mass Gatherings” will provide participants with definitions and concepts for humanitarian emergencies, mass gatherings and other communicable disease threats as well as the skills needed to perform rapid risk assessments, implement surveillance systems, respond to outbreaks, conduct surveys including sampling, communicate risks and use mobile applications to collect data during such events.
The module is relevant to epidemiologists working in: (i) communicable diseases departments (i.e. surveillance, outbreak investigations, research) at national, regional or local level or (ii) governmental and non-governmental emergency response organizations and public health departments. Previous formal training in basic field epidemiology or statistics is required.
